French, German English and Romanian are all spoken fluently. Her father is the theatre professor at one of Romania's top drama schools. The actress starred as an actress from Romania in Romanian actor in Cristian Mungiu's film 4 months 3 weeks and Two days, 4 months (four months 3 weeks, 4 months and 2 days) that was awarded three weeks, four months and two days) which was awarded the Palme d'Or and other prizes at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. Youth Without Youth by Francis Ford Coppola was a different film where she starred. She was also in 2008 as Yasim Anwar on the BBC five-episode miniseries The Last Enemy. Marinca played the role in her role in the Romanian drama Boogie as well as Oliver Hirschbiegel's highly popular Five Minutes of Heaven. Later, she had an important role in 2014's Fury in which she portrayed Irma her German Aunt of Emma.
