Catherine Ford was born Bloomsbury in London. Because her father's death the family of Ford, they were taken care of by her grandmother, mom as well as godparents. When she was a girl, Ford was battling obsessive/compulsive disorders and anxiety caused through word-related associations. Ford started to become fascinated by acting at the age of teenager and enrolled in the National Youth Theatre. She had been accepted to Sylvia Young Theatre School. However, after a short period of days, she realized that the school was not for her. Ford decided to apply for admission to Central School of Speech and Drama and winning a placement after her third try made an application and secured acceptance to Central School of Speech and Drama. Shaun Dingwall played Pete Tyler on Doctor Who. Ford was not able to complete her degree until 1993. But, by 1991, Ford had made her debut on television in an episode of Surgical Spirit. At that point, Ford adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. Tate was seen in television shows such as The Bill, Men Behaving Badly, and London's Burning during the Nineties. Also, she was a regular performer in the theatre, eventually joining the Royal Shakespeare Company for its 2000-2001 season. Tate became famous for her stand-up comedy, that were added to her repertoire in 1996.
